Slick Shoes - Wake Up Screaming

I have read online that if you are new to the band Slick Shoes this is not the best album to start out with. Only for "hardcore fans." Some say they prefer Burn Out or at least Far From Nowhere.

Fall Out Boy - Take This To Your Grave

cover

Fall Out Boy's debut full length album "Take This To Your Grave" is just amazing. Patrick's voice is amazing, something Ilook for in a band. The guitar parts are awesome, kind of poppy, and they keep you moving. Each song is a sing along. Some highlights include "Homesick At Space Camp" "Calm Before The Storm" and "Tell That Mick..."

Other Fall Out Boy albums:

cover

"I saw Fallout Boy when I went to the Mest and Matchbook concert in Utah. Fallout Boy was the opening band and to my surprise they were very good. I then bought the cd the next day and have been listening to it almost every day since the day I bought it. Every song is good and very catchy. Patricks voice is very clear in all the songs and their guitar riffs and drum beats make the music even more fun to listen to. If you like Taking Back Sunday, NFG, and Saves the Day, you will most likely take a liking to Fall out boy." - Amazon.com

The result is a beautiful blend of passion, emotion and sincerity that is unrivaled in the budding emo-rock scene today. "Tell All Your Friends" is truly destined to be one of the breakout albums of 2002." - Amazon.com

Taking Back Sunday was a punk for life project by Eddie Reyes back in 1999. Eddie quickly found three friends nearby with a shared musical vision and recruited one from a little further away (current vocalist Adam Lazzara originally moved to NYC from High Point, North Carolina) to play bass. Victory Records quickly signed Taking back Sunday after their first demo and put them in a studio with Sal Villanueva of Thursday fame running drills. haring the stage with Boxcar Racer, The Used, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory quickly followed and the band saw less and less of home and more and more fans dedicated to the catchy yet meaningful songwriting layered over a unique blend of rock's best attributes.

Label: Tooth & Nail Records

"This was the last CD that featured Jackson on guitars. With two guitars you get tons of awesome riffs and cool backup melodies. Noteable tracks? Parting Ways, Silence (hidden track) and For Better Or For Worse. If you are telling yourself "they are christian so they can't be any good" you are dead wrong. While some of the songs are a bit repetitive and Ryan's vocals are unusally annoying at times, I still enjoy "Burn Out," by Tooth and Nail vets Slick Shoes. A lot of fast energetic songs. I didn't really care for a couple of the songs like "Learn To Unlearn" or "When Does It End?". Couldn't really get into them. But the rest rock. However, if you are convinced you are a Slick Shoes fan, the cost of "Burn Out" is worth it just for "For Better, For Worse", "Fool Me No More," "Fulfilling", "When Does it End," and the hidden track." - Amazon.com

Metallica No Longer Satanic

What used to be a band known for "satanic influence" and non-stop drinking and thrash rage of the past, has now spent more than $1.3 million on therapy.

In the article Metallica Ditch Satan, you can read more about how the band, between their mp3 crusade, is now using group hugs instead of fists.

Not the Metallica I remember listening to when Master of Puppets came out, and definitely not the "yeaaah yeahhh heaaah" James Hetfield I recall from the ground-breaking ...And Justice For All.

How can they play the old tracks like "Am I Evil?" from Kill 'Em All with such lyrics as: "Am I evil?.... yes I am."

American Nightmare

I also wanted to mention a band today. So maybe you don't want to listen to Marilyn Manson or you've worn out your Bleeding Through - Portrait of a Goddess CD. Or maybe you are just looking for something new to check out?

Maybe you've heard it, maybe not. Maybe you will like it, maybe not.

Either way, give it a listen. I am talking about American Nightmare - Background Music. The band had to change their name due to legal reasons, but settled on "Give Up The Ghost."

Also, if you want to check out Embrace Today - Soldiers. It's pretty good too.

Marilyn Manson & Your Parents

Why do parents hate Marilyn Manson? What's the big deal? Feeling a little threatened?

Artistic creativity too much for you to handle? I don't get it.

I think this xmas, eveyone should buy their parents a Marilyn Manson CD!

Which one?
Holy Wood (In The Valley Of The Shadow Of Death)

This idea came to me while I was writing Your Parents Should Listen To Marilyn Manson.

Well,... they should.

Not only would most parents be totally clueless regarding even the title of "Holy Wood," most have no grasp for creativity or art itself, let alone music with some kind of meaning behind it!

This xmas do mom and pops a favor, pick them up a Manson CD to rock while living that sick day life and going to work day after day going nowhere.

The problem is, your parents are the people Marilyn Manson is singing about, and that's what scares them.

Maybe they should be scared.

100 Demons

Have you heard of the band 100 Demons?

They have a new album out that I think is great. My favorite track off the album is Dying In My Own Arms.

There previous album is just as good, if not maybe even better, and worth a listen. You can check it out here - 100 Demons - In The Eyes Of The Lord
